Guitar legend gone to rest at a respectable Age

Image
Last weekend, the world lost a guitarist's guitarist, as legendary jazz-fusion musician Allan Holdsworth died at the age of 70. He was an inimitable, revolutionary, jaw-dropping talent who was revered by such guitar wizards as Eddie Van Halen, Pat Metheny, Tom Morello, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Vernon Reid for his mesmerizing legato licks, altered scalework, boundary-busting harmonic language, and dense, chromatic chord formations. Holdsworth, who was born in England, played with Soft Machine, The New Tony Williams Lifetime, Pierre Moerlen's Gong, UK, Jean-Luc Ponty and Bill Bruford, while releasing a dozen solo albums. While the tributes to the fallen guitarist poured in on social media , family friend Greg Beaton created a GoFundMe page on Sunday, seeking to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of his funeral for his children, Emily, Louise, and Sam. Not only was that goal met quickly, within three days, but the family opted to end the campaign, which had raised almost $1...

Image
Bayern Munich's Philipp Lahm and Xabi Alonso insisted it's business as usual despite the ex-Champions League winners making their final European appearances in the quarterfinal defeat at Real Madrid.Lahm and Alonso both retire from all football at the end of the season. The veterans said their Champions League farewells at Real's Bernabeu when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in Tuesday's 4-2 quarterfinal defeat after extra time. Bayern's return-leg defeat meant they failed in the bid to reach the semifinals for the sixth year running and bowed out 6-3 on aggregate. In a controversial, bad-tempered clash, Arturo Vidal was sent off for Bayern, who forced extra-time in Madrid after Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty and Sergio Ramos scored an own goal to make it 2-1 after 90 minutes. However, it was ultimately a disappointing end to European football for both Lahm, who captained Bayern to their 2013 title win in London, and Alonso, who won the 2005 final ...

Mohammed Adoke accuses EFCC of ploting to plant incriminating cash document in his home

Image
Former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in search of evidence to indict him, is plotting to plant incriminating document, cash in his Okenne home, in Kogi State. The immediate past AGF and Minister of Justice made the allegation in a statement by his media aide, Victor Akhidenor. This is coming as the EFCC had earlier on Tuesday raided Adoke’s home in Kano as part of investigations into the role Adoke may have played in the alleged $1.3billion Malabu oil deal fraud. “We gathered that the swoop on the country home of the former Attorney General and Minister of Justice will happen any moment from now as part of EFCC’s sustained campaign to soil the good name of Mr. Adoke in the guise of seeking evidence to indict him. “We put Nigerians on notice that with the desperation shown by the EFCC, it is not unlikely that they may want to plant incriminating document or cash in the Okenne home of A...

MANCHESTER UNITED MANAGER JOSE MORINHO SAYS THAT HE WOULD NOT BE FUELLED BY REVENGE WHEN UNITED FACES CHELSEA ON SUNDAY.

Jose Mourinho insists he won't be fuelled by revenge when Manchester United face Chelsea on Sunday because he regards the crucial clash against his old club as just another game. Mourinho, sacked by Chelsea last season, could be forgiven for doing everything in his power to beat Antonio Conte's side after suffering two chastening defeats at the hands of the Premier League leaders earlier this season. The 54-year-old was humiliated on his return to Stamford Bridge in October and took umbrage with Conte's touchline celebrations as Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 win. Mourinho fared no better when he went back to the Bridge in the FA Cup quarter-finals in March as Chelsea won 1-0 after United midfielder Ander Herrera was sent off. Adding insult to injury for Mourinho, the self-styled "Special One" was taunted by Chelsea fans who called him "Judas" and chanted "you're not special anymore" following the United manager's touchline row wi...

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has advised the federal government to make use of the loots by the EFCC in recent times in conducting the 2019 general elections. .

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has advised the federal government to make use of the several funds recovered by the EFCC in recent times in conducting the 2019 general elections. He also stated that for the country to have a free, fair election in 2019, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must employ the services of card readers totally. He said if the card readers fail to function at any place, that election in such a place should be postponed to a later time when the card readers are properly fixed. The governor stated this at a rally where he received members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt. He said, “If they want Nigeria to have free and fair elections, card readers should be used and if the card reader fails, they should postpone elections to the next day in that area. Let it be card reader all through. “They should invest all the recovered money by EFCC to conduct credible electi...
